Gypsy Woman

She came one time,
One lovely summer’s day,
To a young man’s door,
To sell her wares,
And then was seen no more.
“Do you believe in God?
Or are you a satanist?
You’d better buy my wares,
If it’s luck you want.
Then open the door,
And I won’t disappoint.”

“Will you buy a souvenir,
Of my travels?” said she,
“Let me see”, said he,
“I haven’t a penny”, he said,
“But give me that golden four-leafed clover”.

She handed him the thing,
And off she went.
And so it came to pass,
That his luck had changed,
So he gave the clover away,
To his sister,
Who prospered just as well.
